Editor-in-Chief of Verge Magazine

www.vergemag.com, 1999–2001

Created and developed a business plan to start up Verge Communications, LLC. Served as editor-in-chief for award-winning Verge Magazine which debuted in August 2000 and published 14 issues. Directed content development and managed overall operations, public relations, marketing, recruiting, and research. Supervised staff and interns and worked daily with writers and editors to produce content. Implemented marketing strategies to promote and market both on the Internet and at events and conferences. Reviewed over 20 written submissions monthly for publication. Copyedited accepted material. Served as contact person for external communication with businesses, writers, and artists.

 

Journalism Camp Instructor

Sandy Spring Friends School, Summer 2004

Led a one-week full-day camp with 15 students aged 9 to 10 teaching the basics of journalism. Developed lesson plans and guided the children’s development of team newspapers with articles and images. Assisted with concept creation and brainstorming. Taught children to use Adobe Pagemaker software to layout and produce their own newspapers.

 

Studio Drawing Instructor

Maryland College of Art and Design, Spring 2000

Taught children aged 10 to 13 the basic fundamentals of studio drawing. Developed lesson plans and assignments, conducted classes during a 10-week semester, and organized an exhibition of student work.
